Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and JC Media Arts, Inc. ("we", "us"), which makes Stylus. They cover the stylus.me website, the Stylus web app and the Stylus text messages (together, "Stylus"). By joining or using Stylus you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use Stylus.
1. What Stylus is
Stylus is a personal styling service by text. You ask what to wear, and Stylus replies with an outfit made from the clothes you own. A web app keeps your closet, your past looks and your settings. Stylus is offered by invitation, in the United States, and is still being developed, so features may change.
2. Who can use Stylus
To use Stylus you must be 18 or older, have been invited, and use a US mobile number that is yours. Each account is for one person. Please keep your details accurate.
3. Your account and signing in
Your phone number is how Stylus knows you. We sign you in with single-use links and codes sent to that number, so anyone holding your unlocked phone may be able to reach your account. Keep your phone secure, and tell us at support@stylus.me if you lose it or change your number. You can sign out of every device in Settings.
4. SMS and RCS messaging program

- Your outfit looks, including a daily look at a time you choose if you set one; replies to your requests; confirmations of changes to your closet; links to your own pages on stylus.me; and one-time sign-in codes. Messages are sent as SMS, MMS (picture messages) or RCS business messages. Stylus sends no marketing or promotions.
- How you join
- By texting JOIN and your code from your own phone to the Stylus number shown on your join page, after reading the consent wording shown there. The join page and its wording are published at stylus.me/sms. Stylus texts only numbers that have joined this way.
- Frequency
- Message frequency varies with your use: typically one daily look, plus replies to your requests.
- Cost
- Message and data rates may apply. Ask your wireless carrier about your plan.
- Help
- Reply HELP (or INFO) to any message for help, or email support@stylus.me.
- Stop
- Reply STOP (or STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT) to any message to stop all messages from Stylus. A STOP in the Stylus chat or to the Stylus number stops both. You will receive one message confirming it, then nothing more, sign-in links and codes included, until you reply START. To pause only your morning look, text PAUSE.

- Carriers
- Stylus works with the major US wireless carriers. RCS messages reach phones and carriers that support them; other phones receive SMS and MMS. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Privacy
- Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. See the privacy policy.
Because Stylus is delivered by text, stopping all texts means Stylus can no longer send you looks or sign-in links. Your account and closet stay as they are, and you can reply START at any time to return.
5. Your photos and words
Your photos, your words and your closet stay yours. You give us permission to store, copy, process and display them, and to send them to the providers named in the privacy policy, only to provide Stylus to you. We do not use them to style anyone else. This permission ends when you delete your account, except for copies we must keep by law.
Send only photos you have the right to share. Please do not send photos of other people without their permission.
6. Looks and advice
Looks, notes and opinions are suggestions made by AI from what you have told us. They can be wrong: a piece may be misread, a colour may be off, or the weather may change. The picture of a look is an illustration and may not match your clothes exactly. What you wear and what you buy are always your decision. Stylus sells no clothing and is not paid by shops for its opinions.
7. Using Stylus properly
Please do not:
- use Stylus for anything unlawful, or send content that is harmful or that you have no right to send;
- use someone else's number or account, or let others use yours;
- try to reach parts of Stylus or other members' information you are not meant to;
- interfere with Stylus, overload it, or copy it by automated means;
- use Stylus to send messages to other people.
8. Fees
If Stylus charges for its service, we will tell you the price and ask for your agreement before any charge. Your carrier's message and data rates are separate.
9. Other services
Stylus can connect to services run by others, such as Google Calendar, and can open shop pages you send. Those services have their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.
10. Our service
The Stylus name, app, website and software belong to JC Media Arts, Inc. You may use them only to use Stylus as offered.
11. Ending your use
You can stop at any time: reply STOP to end all texts, or delete your account in Settings or by emailing us. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we may change or end Stylus. If we end it, we will tell you first when we can, and give you a way to get a copy of your closet and looks.
12. Disclaimers
Stylus is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, including that Stylus will always be available, free of errors, or suited to a particular purpose.
13. Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, JC Media Arts, Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses arising from your use of Stylus, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for Stylus in the 12 months before the claim or $50. Some places do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts in Los Angeles County, California, unless the law where you live gives you a different right.
15. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will post the new version here with a new date. If a change is significant, we will tell members by email before it takes effect. Using Stylus after that means you accept the new terms.
